Surgery Center of Eastern New Mexico
Llano Associates of Clovis, New Mexico engaged The Granger Group for the
development
of this 37,400 square foot traditional medical facility. The project was occupied by the
Surgery Center of Eastern New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico
Physicians & Surgeons
in July 2006.
Previous attempts by the clients to obtain financing were unsuccessful. The Granger Group
created a cost effective solution for the surgeons. In addition, The Granger Group secured
a fixed rate long-term non-recourse loan, bringing in debt financing and equity, and
making the project feasible. Fully transitioned from concept to reality, this long-held
dream of the surgeons employs state-of-the-art technology with an
ambulatory surgery
center (ASC) a medical office building, and an Imaging and
Diagnostic Testing Center
all under one roof. Surgeries performed include eye,
orthopedic, gynecological, podiatric,
breast and general surgeries.
The ASC portion consists of 13,100 square feet and includes: (3) operating rooms
(1 fully
equipped), men’s and women’s locker rooms, (2) minor procedure rooms,
(6) pre-operative
and (6) post-operative cubicles for patient preparation and recovery, (3) 24-hour recovery
rooms with individual restrooms, and (2) nurses’ stations. The MOB portion consists of
8,800 square feet, and includes (8) doctors’ offices, (3) general use exam pods that each
contain (6) exam lanes, (1) dedicated ophthalmic exam lane pod, associated nurses’
stations, a minor procedure area, casting room, and doctors’ dictation areas. The Imaging
and Diagnostic Testing Center consists of 3,500 square feet and includes (2) blood draw
lanes, a blood draw exam room, (2) patient restrooms, a dedicated histology and cytology
area for tissue analysis, a
full-size x-ray room with associated darkroom and image viewing
area, and an
ultrasound room with (2) dedicated changing alcoves and a separate waiting
area. The facility shares centralized waiting, billing, and staff areas, as well as medical
records storage. Floor plan configurations are oriented around a large, central courtyard
area, which provides natural lighting deeper into the facility’s central offices.
With the only freestanding surgery center within 100 miles of Clovis, New Mexico, the
surgeons are now well on their way to achieving their secondary goal: attracting and
retaining physicians to the Clovis area.
