The Granger Group helps DeVos Children's Hospital mix fireworks with fun
Grand Rapids, Michigan, September, 2004 - Each September, the night sky explodes with colorful fireworks and spectacular sounds as Grand Rapids partakes in its annual Celebration on the Grand. This year, a special event was added to the celebration.
The Van Andel Institute's Family Night at the Grand Rapids Public Museum offered a chance for ticket buyers to ensure themselves front row seats for the fireworks, with funds directly benefiting the Van Andel Institute's Hope on the Hill cancer research fund.
Funded entirely by donations, the event raised $30,000 for the fund and provided 1,000 people with the opportunity to enjoy free parking, supper, games for the kids, and seats right on the river to watch the fireworks.
As part of its belief in community involvement, The Granger Group donated 80 tickets to DeVos Children's Hospital for this special event, in hope that patients and their families could take a moment to put aside life's worries and enjoy a night of happy smiles and togetherness.
The event was so popular, it sold out a week in advance. It is the first of an event that the Institute hope to repeat annually, which The Granger Group is supportive of.
