Chain Breaks Ground on Hyatt Place

The Grand Rapids Press, Dave Murray, January 12, 2008 - Hyatt Corp. broke ground
Friday on a brand new Hyatt Place to rise in Metro Health Village.

A new concept for the luxury chain, Hyatt Place rooms are less expensive than a night
in a Grand Hyatt and feature a cafe and upscale coffee shop instead of a full-service
restaurant.

While guests can have a free continental breakfast, they also can order entrees,
sandwiches, soups, salads and pizza around the clock through a touch-screen menu
in a kiosk or their rooms.

"We're excited and proud to have Hyatt make Metro Health Village the first spot in the
region for one of these hotels," Metro spokesman Jim Childress said.

He expects the hotel, located on the south side of the development along M-6, to be an
anchor attracting other businesses.

Hyatt Corp., based in Chicago, operates Hyatt Place hotels in Auburn Hills and Livonia.

Rooms for both were available for $99 a night Friday.

City planners in March approved a five-story, 113-room hotel on 3 acres along M-6.

A Hyatt Corp. spokesperson said the brand is a year old, and growing quickly. The
company opened its 100th Hyatt Place in December. The brand typically is located in
suburban areas and is intended to appeal to both families and business travelers.

The hospital is working on the project with developers Granger Group of Companies,
of Grand Rapids.
