Granger Group's Marketplace Building
Wins AIA Award

Grand Rapids, MI, September 2002 - The Grand Valley Chapter of the AIA (American
Institute of Architects) awarded the Granger Group's Herman Miller Marketplace the
first ever AIAGV Sustainable Design Award. The new award category recognizes projects
that offer a viable design solution that protects and enhances the environment. The
Marketplace does just that by offering a "green" people-friendly environment filled with
natural light, fresh air and ample space within an efficient, economically viable design/
build scenario. Designed to achieve the US Green Building Council Silver LEED
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Rating, the Marketplace utilizes
recycled carpet, natural stone, certified renewable wood, abundant daylight and a
heating/cooling system that is 40% more efficient than the norm. A central core cafe
opens to the central light well, allowing views outside and into further reaches of the
building.
